Supervision

I take my role as a supervisor seriously. This means that I am selective about who I choose to supervise because another person's choices and behaviors can tremendously impact my livelihood. The main things I require from supervisees are a growth mindset, mutual respect, and courage.

Growth Mindset

A willingness to learn is necessary to develop into a successful counselor. You are not expected to know everything about counseling, but you do need to be open to examining areas of growth as well as areas of strength.

Mutual Respect

The expectation for our supervision relationship to work is that we collaboratively agree on your goals for supervision. I shall treat you as a human being capable of great things, and in return, I expect to be treated the same.

Courage

This is the most important element of becoming a successful counselor - courage to learn new things as well as to make mistakes is essential. I strongly believe in daring to have the courage to be imperfect. When we free ourselves from the false constraint of perfectionism, we can grow exponentially.

My Supervision Experience

I hold the Approved Clinical Supervisor credential and have supervised numerous practicum and internship students as a faculty member in graduate training programs as well as associate level counselors as a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice.
